Quester Tangent Corporation (QTC) is a privately owned corporation located in Central Saanich, a suburb of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada that provides hardware and software data-gathering systems to marine sciences and rail transit markets in over 40 countries. It is a leader in non-destructive, acoustic remote sensing of the seabed.

History

Quester Tangent Corporation was founded in 1983. Initially, it served the marine sciences markets, providing equipment and systems for non-destructive, acoustic remote sensing of the seabed to assist with seabed classification and environmental monitoring. In 1994 Quester Tangent started producing monitoring and diagnostic systems for the rail transit industry.

In 2011, Quester Tangent completed two expansions in two buildings in an industrial park outside Victoria, British Columbia. It has a total of 1,700 square metres (18,000 sq ft) engineering and manufacturing space, and its staff has increased to 64 employees. Marine products

Products and services include single beam (QTC VIEW) and swath bottom (QTC SWATHVIEW) classification tools that use echo sounder information to map seabed composition, as well as utility software (QTC CLAMS) to categorize and analyze the data. Quester Tangent has completed over 200 marine surveys in more than 30 countries. Clients

On 12 December 2007, a project using Quester Tangent's Single Beam Acoustic Instrument won second prize at the University of Rhode Island's College of the Environment and Life Sciences.

Timothy William Ellis (born 26 August 1953) was Bishop suffragan of Grantham (and area bishop from 2010 until 31 January 2013.) He was educated at City Grammar School, Sheffield; King's College London; St Augustine's College, Canterbury; and York University. Ordained in 1977 he began his career with a curacy in Manchester at St John's Church, Old Trafford and was then successively Vicar at Pendleton; Vicar of St Leonard, Norwood, Sheffield; Rural Dean of Ecclesfield, also Canon of Sheffield Cathedral, and finally (before his elevation to the Episcopate) Archdeacon of Stow and Lindsey in the Diocese of Lincoln.

A keen Sheffield Wednesday fan and occasional blogger, he is also believed to be the first Bishop to sport an earring.

Bishop Tim was the celebrant at the first U2charist in England and organised a national vigil before the first Gulf War. He is Chair of Involving Lincs, President of the Lincolnshire Rural Housing Association and Patron of Lincoln Mind. Bishop Ellis continues to serve on the Fabric Advisory Councils of York Minster and Sheffield Cathedral. and is a member of the Advisory Panel on the Archaeology of Christian Burials in England's Standing Committee, having been Vice-Chair of the Council for the Care of Churches.
